Below I have tried to answer as many questions as possible that you may like answers to:

 

So, what happens when I make an initial enquiry to Leigh's Pet Care?

Firstly we will check that we are available to take your booking for the dates you require - we are available most of the year including bank holidays and Christmas and tend to take our holidays in the quiet season.  However, spaces are limited so early booking is always advisable.  We will then arrange a mutually convenient time for me to meet you and your pet to discuss your requirement.  This inital meeting, if you prefer - and is usual for small pets that are to be boarded at our home, can be done at our home in Horton Kirby. 

 

When will I have to confirm my booking?

You can of course confirm your booking at this initial meeting or if prefered you can contact us at a later date to confirm - please note that your required dates will not be booked into our diary until you have confirmed your booking so we cannot guarantee them not becoming fully booked in any interim period.

 

What happens about providing you with a key?

I can either take the key immediately or you are more than welcome to drop it off ay my address prior to you going away, alternatively I can come to your house just before your booking to collect it - however, this second visit will incur a small charge to cover fuel costs - unless I am in the area and I am then happy to pop in FOC.

I do advise that you put no indication of your address on your key - I have a 'gift' of memorising different keyrings to know whos key is who :-).  All keys are kept securely in my house and are usually either popped through your letter box at the end of your booking or in some cases clients like me to hold onto their key for future use - especially if they go away alot or at short notice.

 

When will I have to pay for my booking?

Full payment is required at the commencement of your booking.  Payment is required to be either by direct bank transfer/internet banking for which I will provide account details or cash.  Sorry - but i never seem to have the time to queue in the bank to pay in cheques.

 

What if I need to cancel or change my booking?

I of course understand that unforeseen circumstances do occur and bookings will occasionally need to be cancelled or changed.  However, we often turn down bookings due to the diary being full so unfortunately the following cancellation charges do apply:

With 8 + weeks notice to the commencement of your booking: No charge incurred, if it is a change of booking then we will do our best to accomodate your requirements however, cannot guarantee this.

With 4-8 weeks notice to the commencement of your booking: A 25% charge of your total booking fee will be charged for cancellation, we will try to accomodate any changes, however if this is not possible then the 25% charge will be incurred.  If the changes are to cancel a certain number of days from your total booking then the 25% charge for these cancelled days will be incurred.

With less than 4 weeks notice a 50% charge will be incurred.  Unfortunately, with such a short cancellation time it is unlikely we will fill your booking slot and in most cases would have had to turn down other booking enquiries.

 

What information/details will you need before the commencement of my booking?

 

We will require the address, telephone number and preferred contact at your pets regular veterinary clinic - if your pet has any ongoing medical conditions it is always a good idea to let your vet know that you are leaving them in my care, just incase I have to contact them for any reason.

An emergency contact will be required.  This is usually a family member or neighbour and is required should I need to contact them with anything to do with your home - I will however, always endeavour to contact you prior to using your emergency contact and rest assured I have never had to call an emergency contact yet!

You will need to let me know where your trip switches are incase of a power cut and where your stop cock is for your water supply incase of a leak etc.

Always let me know your pets preferred basking areas/hiding places.  I always like to make sure I have atleast seen your pet on my visits - even if they are a cat that prefers to keep itself to itself.

We do of course take contact details for yourself, i.e. mobile number that you will have with you or hotel contact details etc.
